Disney World Looking For Park Overhaul

Disney World is undergoing an overhaul on in their Downtown Disney area. On November 18, the theme park announced plans for construction of a waterfront park called Hyperion Wharf in Downtown Disney. This is the largest and most frequented theme park in the world, and this new addition is sure to pique the interest of those who have previously visited the park.

The Pleasure Island area will be replaced with this new expansion. Pleasure Island was designed with nightclubs for the adult visitor’s entertainment and was popular upon opening, but Disney made the decision to close the clubs in 2008 after the nature of the resort went on a different direction. As one of three areas of Downtown Disney, it was only a short matter of time before plans were finalized for a new utilization of the space.

The new amusement is said to be a modern take on a 20th century port city. The park is planned to open in 2013. This new edition will resemble a pier and have many new restaurants, boutiques, and a large park area. Thousands of lights will give the park an inviting yet adventurous quality. The new Hyperion Wharf will be more in touch with the Disney message than the old Pleasure Island.
