This past weekend, March 4-6, Walt Disney World hosted the eighth annual ESPM The Weekend among a hoard of excited visitors and a host of honored guests.
More than 35 sports personalities were in attendance at The Weekend, including the University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer, New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chat Ochocinco, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripkin Jr., and Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
ESPN The Weekend focuses mainly on allowing attendees of the event to interact with sports stars, commentators, and mascots in a fun-filled atmosphere. Guests attended live broadcasts of sporting events, could attend and participate in Q&A sessions, compete in the interactive ESPN sports zone, and watch a star motorcade parade, as well as get the coveted autograph of their favorite personality in attendance.
The best part of all, though, was the face-to-face interaction between the sports stars and the fans. Kids got to enjoy playing touch football with Ochocinco, and Fitzgerald, as well as shoot hoops with hall of famers Tony Dorsett and Darrell Green.
There was also a chance for visitors to show how great they were at sports trivia – fans could go up against ESPN’s Howie Schwab in a three-round elimination sports trivia contest. No matter how spectators liked their sports, there was a way to enjoy them at full throttle at ESPN The Weekend.
Missed the action this year? Never despair. Be sure to stay on top of Disney news and get in on ESPN The Weekend in 2012. There’s always next year!
