When thinking about what resort to choose for your Disney vacation, be sure to take the time to consider your wants and needs and budget. However, it’s not all about the bottom line when you’re making your ultimate decision—so follow this advice for ensuring that the Disney resort (or the hotel you pick outside of the Disney grounds) is the right one for you.
- In the park or out? One of the most basic decisions you’ll make when booking your trip to Walt Disney World is whether or not you’ll want to stay on the park or outside. Staying outside of the grounds often results in a cheaper visit, but you won’t get the Extra Magic Hours that those who stay “on campus” are entitled to—so you’ll have to arrive when the park officially opens and leave when it officially closes. You will also have to figure out transportation—but many of the hotels around Walt Disney World do offer free shuttles, so check ahead of time!
- How many people are in my party? Disney is strict on room occupancy—so don’t even think about trying to “sneak in” extras. Many resorts will not allow more than four occupants per room, unless one of the extra occupants is a child under the age of 3. Be sure to do research on room occupancy limits and make your decisions based on that.
- Cost? Obviously, you’ll need to sit down and make your own budget for your Disney trip. Make a bottom line, stick to it, and you’ll be able to make a solid resort choice!
