Those who haven’t been to Walt Disney World in a while might be confused about the addition of this “new” park and wonder where Disney-MGM went. Never fear, though – they’re actually the same thing!
Formerly known as MGM Disney Studios, Disney underwent a name change for the park in 2007, rendering the brand new Hollywood Studios. Disney’s official reasons for changing the name is that it is indicative in the change of focus – while MGM studios focused more on the “golden era” of movies, Hollywood Studios has a more forward-looking focus, looking to immerse the visitor in all the glamour and action that today’s cinema has to offer. Most vacationers come to Walt Disney World to get lost, in the magic, and the excitement, that everything Disney World has to offer, but one attraction in Hollywood Studios is more about the reality of Disney World, and that is One Man’s Dream, which is a historical dedication to Walt Disney himself. Another place at Hollywood Studios that is sort of in the same “educational” realm is Playhouse Disney Live on Stage! which brings to life many of Disney’s top educational shows for children.
In contrast to the other Disney parks, Hollywood Studios isn’t sectioned off into areas, but rather exists as one large melting pot of buildings and entertainment. The layout is supposed to be evocative of an actual movie studio, so it’s not nearly as regimented as the other parks are in terms of organization. A good portion of Hollywood Studio’s consists on less active attractions, but one of the more amusement part ones is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which clearly it’s name indicates is a Roller Coaster ride which is very popular for the children. While on the same topic of audio attractions, another one you should stop by during your trip is Sounds Dangerous.
But as far as entertainment is concerned, Hollywood Studios has a little something for everybody. One of the oldest attractions guests can visit is Star Tours, which has been running since 1987, or guests can perform for a live audience at the American Idol Experience, which could possibly win them front-of-the-line passes to the show’s tryouts. Your kids will love seeing one of the more iconic attractions Honey I Shrunk The Kids: Movie Set Adventure. At the Animation Courtyard, guests can learn more about the history of their favorite Disney characters as well as enjoy live shows revolving around Disney’s animated set. At Pixar Place, guests play carnival games hosted by characters from the Toy Story film series. Another one of the more popular hot spots is Fantasmic!. Fantasmic! actually originated in California’s Disneyland, but was such a hit that it migrated across the country in order to wow and thrill viewers to Walt Disney World.
The Great Movie Ride is one of the major attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you’ve come to the land of the Mouse with movies on the brain, be sure to make a visit to this most exciting and informative ride. Another great attraction for Movie buffs is Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! which is one of our personal favorites. An interesting fact about another attraction at Hollywood Studios that Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show actually traces its roots back to Disneyland, Resort in Paris! One of the kids favorites at Hollywood Studios is Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3D which feature some of Disney World’s most iconic characters.
If you like Disney movies, you’ll love the Backlot Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Want to enjoy a unique look at one of the hallmarks of modern children’s literature? Journey into Narnia allows Walt Disney World visitors a unique and interactive glimpse into the movie magic that goes on to make the Narnia series come alive on screen. One of the most popular and longest running shows that Walt Disney World offers at its Hollywood Studios park is Beauty and The Beast. Another oldie but good features one the classic Disney characters in The Voyage of The Little Mermaid.
Another one of the more popular and longest running attractions at Hollywood Studios is The Magic of Disney Animation where guest can see a show about how the creation of Disney Movies take place. Another favorite is the Tower of Terror which is the second tallest structure at Walt Disney World! One of the more unique attractions which is shown in 3D is Toy Story Mania
If it’s movies and television shows and magic you crave, there’s no better place on earth to experience it other than Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
