This is a Disney attraction with a slightly unusual history – while most attractions at Walt Disney World either originated in the park itself or at its sister park Disneyland, the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show actually traces its roots back to Disneyland, Resort in Paris! Originally called the Moteurs… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular, it premiered with the opening of the park in 2002.
The attraction was so popular that the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show opened May 5, 2005, as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth festival at the Walt Disney World Resort. It was established in honor of the very first Disney park, Disneyland, celebrating its fiftieth birthday.
The show itself runs for just over forty minutes and is a mix of pyrotechnics, jet ski chases, and physical stunts alongside expert car driving. The cars themselves are followed by cameras, and the results are projected up onto a billboard screen for the audience to enjoy. The show is both live and pre-recorded for the best of both worlds. There are even some scenes from the show going on in Paris, France to make it seem like a real movie shoot, taking place across the world.
The show itself is sponsored by Georgia Pacific and is one of the most popular shows that Disney guests go to see. Given that it’s nearly an hour of cars and explosions, it’s easy to see why! Herbie the Love Bug even makes an appearance at the halftime show, so there’s absolutely no reason not to stop by and check it out!
